Education

Students in Allen receive some of the highest ranked education in the Metroplex. One hundred percent of the Allen ISD third-graders met the standard for the 2007 TAKS reading examination according to results released by the Texas Education Agency. Allen High School was named a 2001-2002 Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious recognition was only given to 172 schools across the nation. The Allen ISD has been recognized as a Gold School District by Expansion Management Magazine. The district scored in the top 17% of more than 1500 school districts nationwide. The rankings are determined using average college board scores, graduation rates, the community's financial commitment to education, and the economic and educational background of the adult population. The District has taken aggressive measures to meet the growing demands of the student population with a diversified curriculum and planned construction and renovation of school facilities. The high school campus (582,000 square feet) features an on-site Collin County Community College campus. Technology is a priority in Allen.
