AEDC Board of Directors


The AEDC Board of Directors, appointed by the City Council, provides leadership to the Corporation and makes key decisions affecting the positive growth and economic development of Allen.  Deep appreciation is extended to the current Board members that continue this tradition of excellence.

SCOTT SUTHERLAND - President

Mr. Sutherland is an experienced entrepreneur and business broker.  He previously founded and managed a successful technology company and has worked as a commercial real estate investor and partner.  Scott has served as President of the Allen Sunrise Rotary Club and a member of the Allen Community Outreach Advisory Board.  He is a graduate of Leadership Allen Class XXI and the Allen Citizens Fire Academy, and has worked as a youth soccer coach for over 20 years.  He and wife, Amber, and their 5 children have lived in Allen since 2005.  


SUSAN BARTLEMAY - Vice President

Ms. Bartlemay is a pharmacist who came to Allen originally to open her own pharmacy.  She has been an Allen resident for more than 20 years and has always been an active member of the community.  She served on Allen City Council from 1998-2007, and as Mayor Pro Tem 2006-2007.  From 1995 to 1998, she served on Allen’s Planning and Zoning Commission and as Vice Chairman in 1996.  Susan has been active in the Allen Chamber of Commerce and was involved in the process of hiring the first executive director of the AEDC in 1992.  


 JOEY HERALD - City Council Liaison

Councilmember Herald currently serves as Councilmember, Place No. 3, with the City of Allen.  Councilmember Herald serves as Council Representative to the Keep Allen Beautiful Board (2012-Present) and the Library Board (2012-Present).  Councilmember Herald is a past member of the Parks & Recreation Board (2002-2006), Convention & Visitors  Bureau Committee (2009-2012), Planning & Zoning Commission (2008-2012) and Parks & Recreation Board (2008-2012).  Councilmember Herald is a realtor, he and his wife, Charity, have 7 children and have lived in Allen since 1995.  


GREG KENNEDY - Secretary/Treasurer

Mr. Kennedy is a Kentucky native and relocated to Allen in 2008. He is a seasoned Healthcare Executive with more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, market development, acquisitions, new service line initiatives focusing in the areas of multi-specialty physician group practices and emergency medical services. Mr. Kennedy is a former four term city council member and a past chairman of a regional independent health district board comprising four counties as well as previous service on a regional economic development commission. Director Kennedy and his wife Rhonda have 2 grown children.


MICHAEL SCHAEFFER - Director

Michael Schaeffer is a Tennessee native and relocated to Allen in 1999. A local restaurateur, he is the owner of Bar-B-Cutie in Allen and CiCi’s Pizza restaurants in Dallas with investments in other Southwest locations. Mr. Schaeffer has had a close working relationship with the City of Allen for a number of years and has been active in a number of community and civic organizations. Director Schaeffer, his wife Dina and three children live in Allen.
